Real Facts about Hair Extensions
- Remy (Mixed/multiple donors/ Don't even):
Mainly sourced from China. Comes from scalp where cuticles flow in same direction and possibly scraps from other hair origin countries. Intact cuticles minimizes tangling + matting. This hair is chemically processed to keep cuticles preserved and hair shiny. Chemical processes are common to make hair "appealing" and includes coating the hair in silicone to maintain a shine. Once washed, everything goes left. Hair mattes, sheds, tangles, even color changes in some instances.
If you want your hair to last, more than a week.. this is not, under any circumstances, a good investment.
- Virgin (Wholey human hair/ single donor):
True Virgin hair is only steamed processed, not chemically processed: no perms, bleach, color treatments, or dyes. Cuticles are in tact and can last more than a year with proper care. Virgin hair is steamed to achieve different textures (I.e Body Wave). Versatile, easier to style and color. Easiest origin to be mimicked.
Be Aware: companies may claim to carry virgin hair, but provide you "Pack hair" (I.e Beauty Supply) at virgin hair prices. This may not be the case for every company, just be aware.
Not the worst investment.. just the most hassle for quality if you don't know your stuff.
- Raw (Unprocessed/ 100% human/ single donor):
- Pure Virgin (Unprocessed/ 100% human/ single donor):
